Mikvah

Picture
A mikvah is a gathering of water from a natural source.  In our case, it is usually the Santiam River (unless maybe you can come up with some place warmer).   The ritual of mikvah is the original idea from which the Christian church established "baptism" but it ought not be singularly tied conversion; but more broadly with the concept of renewal.  While it is a step in the process of dieing as a gentile and being reborn into the Jewish faith, it is also a repeatable worship experience when seeking to renew one's relationship with God.

While there are formal occasions when a congregation may choose celebrate this re dedication as a body, it is often a private experience between the individual and God.  You can read more on the subject in the little book "Except You Be Born Again" offered in our Resources area.
